The purpose of UPCS’s Street Outreach Program is to provide outreach services designed to build relationships between UPCS staff and runaway, homeless, and street youth with the ultimate goal being to keep youth safe and help them leave the streets.
Outreach Case Managers network in the community seeking out youth who live on the streets and in uninhabitable environments. The team’s main goals are to build trusting relationships with these youth and to help connect them to UPCS and community resources until they are ready to seek shelter or other services. Our approach to serving this population is to integrate case management services, innovative programs, the principles of Positive Youth Development, Trauma-Informed Care, and Harm-Reduction in order to build trust.
Outreach Case Managers assist approximately 400 unduplicated youth each year.
