About the program:

Our newest program, Wired UP will use computer technology to help further empower self-reliance, creativity and literacy among the young adults served by Urban Peak.

We will conduct an ongoing series of weeklong workshops to give youth basic knowledge of software/technology, designate a project to complete so the youth can demonstrate proficiency, and make available open lab time so that youth might work on projects and practice on computers.  In addition, we will bring guests and speakers and create special events utilizing members of the community at large who will impart their unique knowledge in a variety fields, so that we can enhance the Wired UP experience for our youth.

Shelter Groundbreaking!

Several people from Urban Peak, McDermott Architecture, and C&D Construction gathered to break ground for the UP Shelter Expansion.  Urban Peak Denver constructed and opened the first licensed youth shelter in the Denver metro area in 1998. With the expansion, Urban Peak plans to serve an additional 150 youth per year through day services, add intake and crisis management offices; increase space in GED classroom and storage area, increase common living area by 395 square feet, and take steps as an agency towards a disaster preparedness plan.

Thursday, February 28, 2008 - Thanks to all who supported and attended Urban Peak's 8th Annual Maverick Thinkers Awards Dinner!  We had nearly 200 more in attendance than the previous year and exceeded our fundraising goal.

Special thanks to our Event Co-Chairs, Jim & Pamela Basey and to our generous sponsors.
