Urban Peak would like to extend you an invitation to participate in our 921 Project.
On Tuesday, December 10 at 8:00 a.m., we are inviting you to our downtown location (730 21st Street @ Stout) to participate in a special event that will draw attention to the enormous tragedy of youth homelessness in the Denver community.
According to the latest Point-In-Time survey conducted by the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative (MDHI), there are 921 youth ages 13 to 24 who experience homelessness on any given day in Denver. 921. Think about that. That’s nearly 1,000 youth who sleep on the streets of Denver each night… in the rain, snow, sleet and wind.
To raise awareness of the tragedy of youth homelessness, we want to show our community exactly what 921 youth looks like. We’re hoping to gather 921 people together in one location and take a picture.
On the morning of December 10, we’re closing down the street in front of Urban Peak’s Administration Building and the Spot. From our rooftop, we are going to take a picture of 921 people, each person representing one youth who sleeps on the streets of Denver.
It’s time we bring attention to the issue of youth homelessness, and we at Urban Peak think that there is no better day to do this than on Colorado Gives Day, a day when Coloradans everywhere have their pulse on the non-profit community and seek to explore new charities to support and enhance their philanthropic giving.
Will you join us for the photo shoot? Will you be one of our 921? Invite your friends. Invite your colleagues. Let’s show our community the tragedy before us and then, let’s work together to find a solution.
