Our lives have been changed suddenly and drastically by the rapid spread of COVID-19. Very few things look like they did a few days ago. Yet, some things remain the same. As of today, Urban Peak has not reduced programming. We continue to provide street outreach, overnight and day shelter, housing, medical services at our clinic, education and employment programming, showers, laundry, meals, case management and a safe harbor from this storm for all our youth. The 1,015 youth who could find their way to us in 2019 can still find their way to us today.
Of course, we are actively planning for what Urban Peak will look like if staff and youth are further impacted by the virus. To this end, we have provided all full-time staff an additional 40 hours of paid sick leave. We are tracking and implementing recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control as well as state and local health departments across every aspect of our programs. We are collaborating daily with our fellow providers and the Emergency Operations Center of the City and County of Denver so that we can provide continuity of services for our community’s most vulnerable populations.
Thank you for your ongoing support. And thank you for holding our youth and staff in your hearts. We hope that as this situation continues to evolve, we can count on you to keep supporting us from near and far.
