For Halloween this year, lead life skills manager Savannah accompanied youths Alex, David and Tony to McGregor Square, an outdoor community space near Coors Field in the heart of LoDo.

As Hispanic Heritage Month drew to a close this past week, Urban Peak staff members Savannah and Manon accompanied youth on a trip to the Museo de las Americas, a Latin American art museum that’s tucked away in the heart of the Art District on Santa Fe.

Since its founding in 1988, few have witnessed Urban Peak change over the years like Dwayne Wright, Lead Life Skills Manager at the Shelter and one of Urban Peak’s longest-serving employees.

At Urban Peak, we believe in empowering our youth to speak their truth and providing space for them to give feedback about how we can do better. That’s why we host Youth Council, a youth-run group at our Shelter that provides a platform for our youth to share their opinions.

We recently held a presentation at the Shelter featuring representatives from each of our WIOA partners. The partners had a chance to talk with youth about their programs, what to expect from their work, and what skills youth would develop.

Denverites took to the streets this past weekend to celebrate Juneteenth, which recognizes the day when slaves in Texas were finally informed that slavery had been abolished two years prior, and you can bet we didn’t miss it!

This past Earth Day, our social-emotional coordinator, Meghan, went with Urban Peak youth to clean up trash around the Platt Park neighborhood for our second annual Community Cleanup.
