People connect with Urban Peak for many reasons, but they all share a commitment to uplifting their community. For Room & Board—a modern furniture and home décor company—it was Urban Peak’s wraparound services for youth experiencing homelessness, particularly those from marginalized communities, that inspired a lasting partnership.

Denver holds a special place in Room & Board’s story, as the location of their first store in 1980. Years later, Urban Peak had the honor of becoming the company’s first-ever Community Partner. In recognition of their outstanding support, we named them Maverick Thinkers in 2014.

As a 100% employee-owned, certified B corporation, Room & Board donates 2% of its annual profits to nonprofits across the country. Their contributions to Urban Peak have included generous grants, event sponsorships, shelter meal service, quality furniture donations, internship opportunities for youth and more.

Nancy Greatrix, Manager of Giving and Community Relations, shared how meaningful it is for Room & Board employees to engage with our mission:

“To Room & Board, success means growing a thriving business that creates the resources that allow us to give back to the communities where we live and work, and in some small way make the world a better place.”

We couldn’t agree more—and we’re incredibly grateful to have such dedicated and compassionate partners by our side.
