J.T.
“[Urban Peak] didn’t just help me survive. They gave me the tools to thrive.”
Prinz is excited for graduation!
At 18 years of age, J.T.’s journey to Urban Peak began in chaos. A smart and thoughtful teen, he struggled with conflict, isolation and anger at home. After a period of instability and a short time in jail, he was referred to Urban Peak by a social worker.
His first impression of the shelter was overwhelming—loud, unfamiliar, and intimidating. But it didn’t take long for J.T. to see the opportunity behind the noise. Urban Peak provided a safe bed, space to study, emotional support and a network of staff who genuinely cared for and understood him.
While living in the Stella Blue neighborhood and receiving case management services, J.T. began to transform. He learned resilience, responsibility and discovered a passion for helping others. Now age 19, he’s balancing work and school, learning Spanish, and pursuing his dream of becoming a lawyer to fight recidivism and support underserved communities.
J.T. found more than shelter at Urban Peak—he found direction and meaning.
His story is proof that with faith, determination and the right support system, hope isn’t just possible—it’s powerful.
