Niko first experienced life on the streets at 17, after he was kicked out by his guardian. He slept outside his high school that first night, and in the morning a teacher found him and got him connected to Urban Peak. Niko initially stayed in My Place, our minor’s shelter, before he turned 18 in September and moved into Mary’s Place for young adults.

Niko decided to pursue his GED and is working with Urban Peak staff to study and prepare for the exam. In the future, he dreams of becoming a professional cook and creating brand new recipes, made a little easier thanks to his photographic memory.

Today, Niko is grateful for the support and community he has found at Urban Peak, as well as at his local church, where he has also found solace and purpose. In his free time, he loves to play competitive video games with his friends. 😊🎮
