After serving in the Army, Jake was discharged just as COVID-19 hit—a double blow that left him struggling to find his footing. Bouncing between couches and shelters, he often found himself in unsafe environments filled with adults battling addiction. Then he heard about Urban Peak—a place designed specifically for young people like him.

Adjusting to life at The Mothership wasn’t easy. But soon, Jake felt seen by staff who believed in him. He found a job on his own, and with staff support he created a plan and found stability. He is grateful for a safe bed, regular meals, medical services and, “most importantly, a shower to wash off the day.”

Today, Jake lives in Urban Peak’s transitional housing neighborhood, where his case manager is helping him master independent living skills like budgeting and meal planning. He’s on a clear path toward permanent housing, filled with excitement and gratitude for the foundation Urban Peak has provided.

His biggest dream? To hear his father say, “I’m proud of you.” With determination and newfound stability, Jake is on his way to making that dream a reality.
